Obituary of Joseph L. Theurer
Joseph L. Theurer, 92, formerly of Briggs St. in Harrisburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016.
Born in Harrisburg, he was the son to the late Charles and Mary Dowhower Theurer (Thawley)
He was a proud U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and was a retired analyst with the PA Dept. of Labor and Industry. Joe was a long-time member of the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, and was most recently a member of Seven Sorrows Catholic Church, Middletown. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post #27, and the Disabled Veterans of America, and the Maennerchor. He was an avid card player and lover of animals. Joe was occasionally mistaken for Santa by small children, much to his delight. He was very quick-witted and full of jokes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Demma Theurer and a son, Walter Michael Charbel Theurer.
Surviving are his children, Joseph L. Theurer, Jr. (Rebecca), Mary Ann Sukley (Paul), and Bernadette Theurer-Rhodes; 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Joe was very much loved by those he leaves behind.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Seven Sorrows Catholic Church, Middletown from 10AM-11AM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Bishop McDevitt, the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, or Seven Sorrows B.V.M.
