Obituary of Michael John Kotz
He was predeceased by his parents, Catherine M (Jurchak) and Leonard G. Kotz and his nephew Mark Tatkovski. He was the beloved brother of Rosemary Tatkovski, partner of Carroll Curtis of Harrisburg, PA, Kathleen, wife of Gary Mostoller of Greenville, South Carolina, Leonard, partner of Becky Nye of Wellsville, PA., and Richard, husband of Pamela of Harrisburg. He was a special "Uncle Mike" to numerous nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mike worked for many years as a Loss Prevention Associate for Ross Stores. Previously he served as a police officer and security specialist. He was a lover of nature and and avid bird watcher. He had a particular avocation for observing and tracking the migration of hawks in Pennsylvania. In 1973, while still a high school student, he led the 795 hour migratory raptor count at Waggoner's Gap.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church at 2121 N.3rd St. in Harrisburg at 10:30AM on Saturday, February 20, 2016. Viewing will be on Saturday from 9:30AM-10:30AM at the church.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in his honor to The National Audubon Society,The Hawk Mountain Sanctuary or Our Lady's Church.
