Obituary of Philip Fonner

Philip Fonner Jr. July 4, 1931 - May 14, 2014, 82 years 313 days. "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you, to guard you along the way, and to bring you to the place I have prepared for you." Exodus 23:20:21 Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years Suzanne Liddick Fonner, sons; Steven Fonner (Wendy), Scott J. Fonner (Linda Jo), Michael Fonner (Wendy), daughter; Colleen Roma Fickes (Dr. Douglas), brothers; Franklin Fonner, Richard Fonner, David Fonner (deceased), sister; Delores Brindle and sister-in-law; Joanne Fetterhoff. Philip and Suzanne are the proud grandparents of 12; Shane Fonner, Philip Fonner IV, Erin Hineman, Anita-Louise Wilmath, Chris Roma, Nicholas Fonner, Alexa Suzanne Roma, Loette Walker, Chase Roma, Alivia Roma, Jonathon Fonner, Garrett Faust, and 8 great grandchildren; Colin Fonner, Jordan Fonner, Valerie Wilmath, KelliRae Fonner, Victor Wilmath, Keeghan Fonner, Kiernan Suzanne Fonner, and Ainsley Hineman. After his graduation from John Harris High School in 1949, Philip enlisted in the US Air Force, and then worked at Gannett & Fleming Engineering Company for 62 years. He was a 56 year active member of the Linglestown Legion, and an active member of the Forty & Eight Voiture in Chambers Hill. Philip volunteered for many years at St. Margaret Mary's where his wife worked as Director of Religious Education. Philip co-founded the Men's Suburban Softball League, he served as a Committee Man and Judge of Elections as well as many volunteer positions throughout his life. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 at St. Margaret Mary's Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, visitation from 10-12 in the church. Burial with full military honors will be at Shoop's Cemetery, Lexington Street. A luncheon will be held at the Linglestown Legion on North Mountain Road following the Internment. Donations may be made to St. Francis Assisi Parish 1439 Market Street Harrisburg PA. 17103, or to St. Margaret Mary Church 2800 Paxton Church Road Harrisburg PA. 17110.
