Uncle Mike I can still remember his unique voice, his laughter, his infectious spirit. Growing up, us California kin spent many summers with our Pennsylvania cousins, and it always seemed like one big party. I remember his houses, especially the three story townhouse on Hill Street and sleeping on the floor in makeshift beds made out of packing quilts. I remember playing in the backyard and walking to the nearby store for ice cold cokes. How we’d go to the Croatian picnics and dance and sing and eat, eat, eat. Visits to Steelton and Washington DC. How funny and playful Uncle Mike, my Dad and their brothers would be when they got together. Memories I hold dear in my heart. Always the entrepreneur, I admired his ability to reinvent himself over the years to his many diversified interests. It seemed he was always up to something new and exciting. I fondly remember one very stormy day my dad and I traveled in the pouring rain to his antique shop. Always being interested in vintage things, Uncle Mike took me on a personal tour and his eyes sparkled as he told stories about his wares. At the end, he told me I could choose any one thing to take with me. I chose a small depression glass plate which I still have and use to this day. Although many miles and years have passed, I will always hold dear that voice, that laughter, that spirit, that spark that was my Uncle Mike. My love and heartfelt condolences go out to all my cousins, Lorraine, Joanie, Marlene, Marianne and John, and to my beautiful Aunt Carol. I pray you take comfort that he lived a life so full and know that your loss is ours as well. Love always, Brenda Cvetko and family

My heartfelt condolences reaching out to the Cvetko Family. Mr. Cvetko was truly a man that had achieved much and provided for his family well! He was indeed a man that had a wonderful sense of humor. I always enjoyed my time with Mr. Cvetko when visiting my good friend John in the late '70s and early '80s. Pokoj mu duši! My Brudder Mike - passed away on Christmas Day ~ 12-25-2020 at age 89, after living a full & eventful life. He grew up in a steel railmaking town called Steelton, PA - 3 miles long from end to end, with 4 older Brudders & 1 Sister. Their names were Marty, John, George, Annie, and myself Joe. Our pop had married our mom, Anna, a widow with 4 children last name Mociler/Mosler. Then they had myself & Mike. We all lived as a natural family, and all had many lively happy experiences in growing up together. Although, we were a poor family financially, we were rich in relationship with each other and were a happy family loyal to each other. In our town we were referred to as Hunkeys because our mom & pop came from Croatia, Yugoslavia. We all went our separate ways and had our families. Mike & Carol had 6 kids (Lorraine, Bruce, Joni, Marianne, Marlene, and John. Mike was always a great businessman and his brain was always thinking of new endeavors. Mike was successful and he had lots of friends. I was fortunate to see & talk to him on Christmas Eve using ipads and facetime. He wasn't in pain as he shook his head no and he tried to talk to me a couple times in acknowledgement. In our language, I told him, "Idi sa Bogom" which means "Go with God". (pronounced "idee uz Bogom"). Our condolences to Carol, Lorraine, Joni, Marianne, Marlene, & John and all the grandchildren and nieces & nephews. Love, Joseph & Marie Cvetko

My condolences to the family. When I think of Uncle Mike, my first thought is how funny he always was. I loved seeing him interact with my dad and his other brothers, Marty and John. Fondly, I remember our many summer trips back to PA and learning more about my Croatian side from Uncle Mike - the picnics, the food, the traditions. When I was curious about our family tree over 40 some years ago, he shared all the info he had which led to future discoveries. I was so glad that an aide at the home assisted so my dad could FaceTime with him Christmas Eve. He did acknowledge, trying to talk a few times, to what dad was saying, sharing memories. Most importantly, he shook his head "no" when asked if he was in pain. We talked to him about those waiting to help him cross over and how he would be in his new body with our Lord. It is sad that he passed on Christmas, but I think Mike will be happy to know that he will always be remembered on Christmas.
