Obituary of Robert J. Zamboni
Robert John “Bob” Zamboni, 79, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on
July 12, 2021.
He was born on June 12, 1942 in Danville, to the late Richard and Alice (Moratelli)
Zamboni.
Bob was a 1960 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School. Thereafter, he graduated
from Penn State University in 1964 and he received his MBA from Shippensburg
University in 1980. He had an accounting career with AMP, Incorporated for 34 years
before his retirement in 1998. Bob married Mary Joan Kleman at St. Joseph’s Church in
Locust Gap on May 31,1969 before settling in Harrisburg.
Bob was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Harrisburg for 49 years.
He was an active referee of PIAA basketball for 35 years and PIAA volleyball for 10
years.
Bob enjoyed a long, full life. He was a devoted husband, father and proud grandfather,
an avid reader and a gifted athlete. He loved watching Penn State and Mount Carmel
sports. He was also a fan of the New York Yankees, Boston Celtics and Baltimore
Ravens. Bob loved to golf, play tennis and coach his daughter’s softball teams when
they were young. For several years, Bob and Mary Jo would relocate to Orlando, Florida
for the winter to enjoy retirement and host family and friends for long visits. Many happy
memories were made.
Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Joan Zamboni; his two daughters, Kara
(Zamboni) Jeffries and her husband, Brett of Littleton, MA and Leah (Zamboni) Barker
and her husband Daniel of Charlotte, NC; five adoring grandchildren, Reid, Blake and
Tate Jeffries and Tess and Jude Barker; a brother William Zamboni and his wife Dianne
of Danville and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by brothers Richard and Thomas Zamboni.
Bob’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Joshua Shipley and staff at
Andrews Patel Medical group for the wonderful care Bob received over the years.
