Obituary of Thomas D. Bentz
Thomas D. Bentz, 71, passed peacefully with his family by his side on January 30, 2022, at his home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was born on July 17, 1950, in West Reading, Pennsylvania to Nicholas Bentz and Mary E. (Schlegel) Bentz. A 1968 graduate of Holy Name High School, Wyomissing, PA, Tom married his High School sweetheart, Anne L. (Schuler) Bentz, and enjoyed 52 years of blissful marriage. He worked in the banking industry for 45 years, retiring in 2016 from M&T Bank, where he was the Vice President of Car Dealership Floor Plans.
Tom thoroughly enjoyed golfing, taking countless golf trips, and if he wasn’t on the links, Tom could be found enjoying card games with his family and friends, beach trips, and spending weekends at the pool with his grandchildren. Tom felt most accomplished taking part in the prison ministry program and spending time in the adoration chapel. He cared deeply about his family and was a very spiritual man, passionate about his Catholic faith and practicing daily.
Tom is survived by his wife, Anne L. Bentz, sons Benjamin Bentz (Roni), Matthew Bentz, Peter Bentz (Andrea), Andrew Bentz, and Thomas Bentz (Tara), daughters Elizabeth Perri (Bill), Julia Bentz (Eric), and Jenna Fox, brothers William Bentz, Nicholas Bentz, and Richard Bentz, sister Theresa Caton, and grandchildren Jordan, Madison, Mikayla, Zoe, Benny, Rocco, Franco, Marlee, Ella Mae, Kai, Gigi, PJ, Thomas, and Joseph.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert Bentz, Joseph Bentz, James Bentz, and John Bentz, and his sister, Sr. Nicholas Mary, IHM.
A visitation will be held on February 7, 2022, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Gilbert L. Dailey Funeral Home and on February 8, 2022, from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be held on February 8, 2022, at 12:00PM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Tom’s name to the Sacred Heart Adoration Chapel at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Harrisburg, PA.
