Obituary of Robert A. McComas

Robert A. McComas, affectionately known as “Bobby Mac”, recently passed away. Bob was
born in Wooster, Ohio on May 21, 1956, and was the son of the late B. Marie and Gaylord
“Mac” McComas.
Graduating from the Univ. of Akron and Slippery Rock Univ., Bob became a sports
writer/information director for Drexel Univ., The Bradenton Herald and Slippery Rock Univ.
Prior to his death, he served as the State Administrator for the PA State Council of Lions Clubs.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Bob dedicated his life to volunteering and serving others as a
Lions Club member. He joined the Slippery Rock Lions Club in 2008 and transferred to the
Lower Paxton Township Lions Club in 2018.
Among his many Lions awards, Bob was a Melvin Jones Fellow and Lions of PA Fellow recipient.
Bob is survived by his brother Ed McComas (Cathy), niece Kelly Renfro, nephew Andrew
McComas, aunt Edie Bresson Snyder and multiple cousins and families in Ohio. He is also
survived by his Lions family from throughout Pennsylvania and around the world.
A Lions Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday,
August 27 at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4200 Londonderry Road, Harrisburg,
preceded by a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Lion/Pastor James Person will be officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in Manasota Memorial Park, Bradenton, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made in Bob’s memory to
