Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marie Ann Schaffer, 78, passed away peacefully on June 1st, 2023, 5:04 pm EST. with her family lovingly by her side.
Born December 1st, 1944, to Agnes Shoemaker and Woodrow Wilson. Marie lived her rambunctious young life in Fountain Hill, Lehigh, Pennsylvania with her siblings William, Kevin, Dora, Michael, Timothy, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends nearby. She spent the remainder of her years in Lykens, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.
Marie is survived by her brother Timothy; her children James, Leah, William, Adelle, Anthony Sr. and spouses, step-daughters Vene, and Lavena, 9 grandchildren and spouses, 17 great grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Marie was predeceased by her late common law marriage John Madden of 29 yrs., parents Agnes and Woodrow, siblings William, Kevin, Dora, and Michael, and her beautiful daughter Theresa.
Marie started working at an early age in a factory. One of her responsibilities was to add buttons to the blouses, making 25 cents an hour. She was a nanny, and a mother at the same time. She was a key punch operator for several companies including the state of PA. She worked for several years for Goodwill in the HR department in the state of FL.
Marie had experienced and endured many health issues including several cardiac arrests, COPD, kidney failure. All that knew her, knew that she was a fighter. She was on dialysis every other day, she required 24 hour oxygen use. These past couple of years, she had given herself to Christ, repented of her sins, and accepted Christ as Lord and Savior. She was attending Bible Studies, and going to Church when the weather and her health would allow her. She was tired and is no longer suffering. She is very proud of all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. We pray forgiveness for any sin, any inequity, known or unknown. In the mighty name of Jesus!
Marie Schaffer was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives she touched. Even though she got on people’s nerves, she had no filter, she was a people person that had you wanting more. Marie, everyone you left in this world hates that you are gone but we are happy that you are home free and painless. Marie would spend hours on the phone with her children. She had a passion for helping others. Marie was very active on social media Facebook. She would knit Afghan hats, mitts, breast cups for women and donate them. If you were blessed with one of her works of art, please cherish them. We will always love and miss you until we can meet again.
