Obituary of Anita M. Fink

Anita Mazza Fink, born on 7/16/1936, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day,
5/12/2024 at the age of 87. She was the eldest daughter of Anthony Peter Mazza and
Edith Pezzuti. Anita was a graduate of Harrisburg Catholic High School and Seton
Hill University. She earned a Master of English Education degree from the
University of Connecticut. Anita is survived by her three children: Lisa Hackenberg,
Laurie Friedlander (Mark) and Lawrence C. Fink II. Also surviving are two sisters,
Marie Giusti and Margaret Mary Craig (Bill), four grandchildren- Michael (Brittanie), Benjamin,
Claire, and Daniel, and four great grandchildren (Brielle, Micah, Malachi, and
Brynlee). She is predeceased by her, brother-in-law Joseph, a grandson, Andrew and her daughter-in-
law, Anne.
Anita’s teaching career began in the Harrisburg School District and continued in the
Philadelphia suburbs and State College, PA. She was the English department chair
at South Hills School of Business for most of her career where she taught business
English and letter writing courses. It was there that she mentored new teachers,
revised curriculum, spoke at graduations, and prepared students for prosperous
careers. She was beloved by her students for many years due to her passion for
grammar.
Anita was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved nothing more than
spending time with her family. Her annual Christmas party was a cherished family
event. Her generosity ensured that everyone she loved stayed connected. She was
very active in the Roman Catholic Church and derived great strength from her faith.
She was a season ticket holder for Penn State Football games, watching her beloved
team for many years. She hosted many out of town guests for football weekends. In
her spare time, she was an avid water color painter and spent hours knitting
beautiful clothing items for family and friends.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church,
6150 Allentown Blvd. Harrisburg, PA, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., and
a private burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
