Timothy Joseph Gorman, Jr., “Joe” to family and friends, passed away July 24, 2024, at the Morgantown Healthcare Center in Morgantown, WV. He was born on November 11, 1929, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Timothy Joseph Gorman, Sr. and Edith Cecilia (Mattingly) Gorman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William D. Gorman, his first wife, Mary Carolyn (Witt) Gorman, his second wife, Francis M. (Richardson) Dulski Gorman and a stepdaughter Karen. He was of the Roman Catholic faith. He served on the parish council while in Ravenswood, WV and was active in parish charitable and social groups in both his parish in Ravenswood and in his Hershey, PA parish. He enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War. He was a platoon leader, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following the war he attended the University of Pittsburgh, Swanson School of Engineering, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was an avid reader, loved learning and working with his hands and never met a challenge that he was afraid to take on. He worked his entire career as an electrical engineer for Ohio Power, Titanium Industries, Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation, and the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. When his children were younger, he enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and tent camping. Later, he busied himself with woodworking and oil painting. Joe loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the WVU Mountaineers and drinking a cold beer. Surviving are sons Mark, Jim and David, his daughter, Jennifer, a stepson, Christopher, his stepdaughters, Linda and Jacqueline and their spouses along with numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM. at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow with full military honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Annville, PA.
