Obituary of Gayle E. Cummings
Gayle was born in Union, SC on Nov 26, 1930. He was son of Etta ( Blackburn) Cummings and Monroe Cummings.
Gayle was owner / optician of Cummings Opticians in Harrisburg and Mechanicsburg for 35 years. He was very proud of his ten years of service in the Marine Corps, which included 2 years of service in the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. He was a Eucharistic minister and on the financial board. He also was previously active at Holy Name of Jesus Church as president of the Holy Name Society and on the finance committee. Gayle's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed.
Gayle is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Gilligan) Cummings. Three children, Kathleen Charney (Kenneth), Stephen Cummings (Mary Kay), Rosemary Keel (Stephen).
He was blessed with four grandchildren, Brianne Davis ( Bryan), Andrew Charney, Patrick Keel, Kristina Cummings and three great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be on Satuday, August 20, 2016, 11:00 am at St. Margaret Mary Church.
A viewing will be held from 10 am to 11 am.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Margaret Mary building fund.
