Obituary of Joseph K. Chiara

Joseph K. Chiara, Sr., 67, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at his home. He was born on July 9, 1948 and was the son of the late Joseph E. and Ruby M. Chiara. Mr. Chiara was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School in 1966 and King's College in 1970. He later went on to earn his Master's Degree in Education. In 1972, Mr. Chiara became employed at Bishop McDevitt High School where he spent the next 44 years educating, guiding and inspiring students. Teaching was his passion, his gift and his calling. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church and enjoyed spending all of his free time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Chiara is survived by his daughter, Angela M. Chiara of Lemoyne and his son, Joseph K. Chiara, Jr. of Hummelstown; one brother, Charles T. Chiara and his wife Nancy of Hershey and a nephew, J. Matthew Chiara and niece, Suzanne Gottshall. Mr. Chiara had 4 grandchildren, Morgan S. Chiara, Logan M. Chiara, Nicholas J. Chiara and Quinn Chiara Monte, and was adoringly known as "Pop Pop". A viewing will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 4pm-7pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Harrisburg. A burial will be held privately for the family.
